Freshwater Bye Laws
Switch to Angling Bye Laws
  1. The Associations boundaries are west of a line from Portland Lighthouse to the Old Severn Bridge for non migratory Trout, other coarse freshwater species can only be fished in waters that operate day tickets.
  2. When fishing at waters within the Associations boundaries, anglers shall fish to the current Rules and Bye Laws enforced at that water.
  3. Anglers must hold a current,relevant annual Environmental Agency Rod Licence.
  4. Anglers under the age of 12 years are not required to hold an EA Rod Licence.
  5. The Associations 'Home Water' is located at New Barn Farm Angling Centre, Paignton.
  6. Entry into any competition shall be taken as acceptance of the Rules enforced for the Competition. The decision of the appointed Stewards or the Committee upon any point that may arise shall be taken as final.
  7. Any fish caught will be disqualified if the angler allows any other person to cast the line, play or land the fish, except for special dispensation granted for individuals. Assistance may be accepted by use of a net, or in baiting or taking the fish off the hook.
  8. No fish will be accepted or weight of less weight or length than specified by the minimum size / weight lists of the National Federation of ANGLERS. Only whole fish to be weighed in, mutilated or frozen fish to be disqualified. Anglers must not weight in of witness their own caught fish.
  9. Fish are deemed to be foul hooked if the hook is not in the mouth. Foul hooked fish must not be weighed in for the Associations cups,trophies or competitions.
  10. Coarse species to be weiged within 24 hours of capture to the Rules and Bye Laws enforced at the water in which the fish is caught. Documentary evidence and photograph required to be submitted to Records officer for eligibility to the Associations competitions and trophies, Non Migratory Trout to be weight within 24 hours of capture at the Associations headquarters by an Officer, Management Committee, or Fishing Committee Member / approved member of the Association, and witnessed by a member. Weigh-in forms to be submiteed to the Records Officer within 7 days of the date of capture.
  11. No angling member can win more than one of the Asscoiations cups or trophies with any one fish.
  12. The associations cups and trophies may not be taken further than a radius of 20 miles from the Assoications headquarters. All cups and trophies to be returned to the Cup Custodian by the 30th of November of the year of presentation.
